Service Description
The Basic Wastewater Operations course provides participants with an introduction to wastewater collection and treatment along with a brief review of the water cycle. The course covers sources and pretreatment of domestic waste as well as characteristics of wastewater. Experienced trainers guide the class through best practices and related standards utilizing classroom discussion and cover all associated laws specific to wastewater. Prerequisites There are no prerequisites for this course. Course Completion Requirements Participant Must Provide a photo identification on the first day of class. Attendance Requirements Class attendance is an essential part of the education process and participants in TEEX courses are expected to attend all class sessions and field exercises. This course requires participants to attend a minimum of 100% of the class hours as a component of successful course completion. During the course, your instructor will review any additional attendance requirements, for example a field exercise that cannot be missed. Upon successful completion, you will be able to: Wastewater Treatment Goals The Operator and the Law Wastewater Characteristics Domestic Wastewater Pretreatment The Collection System Preliminary Treatment and Flow Measurement Sedimentation Activated Sludge Process Fixed Film Treatment Stabilization Ponds Sludge Processing Disinfection Safety Calculations Suggested Audience This course is designed for public works personnel and new employees of a wastewater system. Continuing Education And Professional Credits 20.00 hours – Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) State Board for Educator Certification (SBEC)/Texas Education Agency (TEA) 2.00 hours – American Council on Education (ACE) **PLEASE NOTE** This course has been approved by the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) to fulfill 20 credit hours in the following operator license area(s): – Wastewater Operator License

Class will begin promptly at 3:30 PM each day. Please do not arrive late. Participation of 100% is required to received 100% credit. Feel free to bring snacks and drinks. There is a coin operated soda machine in the training room. Coffee is provided.
